Ok its been a minute, but i've been on the grind of my life. Playing engineer with some new plug ins, writing for my up coming projects A.M. - "A.M. Pacific Coast Time" (A.M. is Me and MYO) and the Tony Parker project. The A.M. should be done soon we just finished our last song with 1019, now just clean up the project and mix it. project is HOT, got guest appearances from Mr. Oda, Parker, just chill and of course 1019. Second project is Tony Parker, this is an ill concept that we've been putting together and i cant wait to unload this one on everyone also, FIRE!. I've been working on a few other things also The Pac 10's new album, Mr Oda's Project and just chill might finalllly be dropping his long awaited solo FRESH!!!. So i will keep you posted once the A.M. is up to download. Also check the new site Magflux.net

Now on to my next big inspiration of recently. The homie Lac finished his book titled "I Love Yous Are For White People". Now the title is genius. Now i knew it was a book but i had no idea of what. Well so happens i went to his book signing which was hella inspiring. After i read the book it was very easy to connect to it. (I recommend this book for sure!, an ill story nothing what i thought it was going to be like) Now Lac had previously wanted a song for his book, now once you read the book one can easily see that a song can be done. So the next time i had a day off from Mag Flux sponsors (as Mr Oda would say) i jumped at the chance to the song. Now im not sure if any other camp members will want to also do a song also once they read the book but i locked myself in. Had a very rough demo done in a day, beat, 3 verses all done, just came out. Studied the song for a better demo and now just waiting for the homeboy Lac to listen and see what he thinks. Once it gets the ok it will be up on myspace. Also go peep the BOOK! I am multitasking like a mad man. I got a mixtape project with M.Y.O. i got a concept album with Parker Edison and i've been working on the 2nd Pac 10 album for a minute. Theres still some other projects simmering with Oblique and just chill. The middle of this year should bring some real dope shit (if i say so myself). Ill keep you posted.

Seen a great show last night by Raphael Saadiq. Performance was easily over an hour and he did the majority of his new album. This album is a throwback (even though he said is wasn't a throwback it was "Who I've been since i was 7" ha. Vocal talents that no auto-tune should even touch (someone like myself needs auto-tune lol). Here's a sample of whats on the new album.

This should be good. Eddie Murphy has signed on to play the late great Richard Pryor in the biopic. Its being put all together by Directed by Bill Condon. It is well Known that Pryor was one of the biggest influences on Murphy's career, not everyone gets a chance to play somebody they idolize on the big screen. The film is set at a rumored 25 million budget.

It's a little late news but I'm glad the Chargers decided to franchise Darren Sproles. He adds a dynamic that helps the offense and special teams tremendously. I do want the Chargers to keep LT, he brings a leadership that the team will continue to need, it's hard to replace a leader. I see a running back getting drafted this year though.

One important thing to do when your mixing is reference. It's something simple that we can forget. When your mixing or writing one thing to do is reference it to something similar. You wanna have a big sound or bangin kicks, snares, ect... play your song and then compare it to a song you want it to sound like, find whats missing and be creative.

I really hope not. The future isn't so bright for what us as artist love putting together and fans once loved listening too. I guess we either brought it on ourselves as artist, because the industry only wanted singles and that's what we gave. It's been going on now for a long time but the Ipod has set in stone the new format of the album with the playlist and shuffle buttons and now there seems to be no need to create a great piece of work. There are still artist out there who care about the craft of putting something together cohesive, long lasting and brand new. But the art seems to be more based around the same subjects with weak efforts on everything but their single. Now its not even to say i don't enjoy some of the simple stuff we listen too now but when i pick up an album i really enjoy going thru the wolrd the artist has created for me. I guess i really enjoy when i get the best of both worlds of great songs with substance and some stuff that lets me forget about things for a minute.

A day before the Pro Bowl, i just can't help to think how sometimes systems are so messed up. You got Rivers who clearly was one of the best QB's in the NFL of 2009 season and was snubbed of the Pro Bowl. You got Brett Farve who had a good first half but really fell off the second half and was voted in. Now Rivers is hurt and was first alternate so he would've ended up going but clearly just like life most things end in a popularity contest.

This is one book i could not put down. I read about all the albums i knew and was introduced to a grip i had no idea about. I really hope Brian Coleman does more of these books. It was ill reading about some of the beginnings of hip hop and the influences on the music we listen to today.

The EQ is something that can defenitley help a mix. When you have sounds in the mix that may be too heavy you can lighten them up. You'll want to take off way more than add and you never want to over eq, that can make things sound plastic, the key is to blend everything together. Vocals need to be pronounced in front of your mix. I find eq one of the most important things i use to blend my sounds together. It's always your call what needs to be eq'd but for those sounds that just seem to not sound smooth in the mix a little eq can help out most of the time. Anybody else got anything to add leave a comment.

The Chargers have re-signed eight players for the 2009 season. They include linebacker Eric Bakhtiari, wide receiver Gary Banks, running back Eldra Buckley, defensive end Andre Coleman, guard Brandyn Dombrowski, cornerbacks Grant Mason and DeJuan Tribble, and defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo.

Now normally i know who almost all the players on the team are but out of this bunch i only know Andre Coleman and, i hope they can do something great, it wasn't too long ago Gates was in this batch along with Malcolm Floyd. Good rumors that they are probably keeping Tomlinson, at least for another year..

According to the news Mr Fiasco's album is not coming out indefinitley. He was doing a triple album called LupE.N.D. for those who didn't know. Now i personally think that is wayyyy to much. There really is only two double albums that i think are classic. Biggies and Wu-Tang's, Tupac's was pretty close but i didn't like enough songs on it. ALL others i can think of would've been better as one disc, but of course this is just MY opinion. I guess the rumor with Lupe is that it was out of his control, BUT there is something for us Lupe fans to look forward too, he will drop an album in june called "The Great American Rap Album" now thats something im looking forward too.

I know its been crazy here in SD with these Charger rumors. The team might move to L.A. and LT might be traded. I of course as a Charger fan i find it irritating. Move and i don't think i could stay a devoted fan of blank (city) Chargers, that won't be my team. I still will love the NFL and i will continue to play on my fantasy teams lol but Charger fan i don't know if i could stay. As far as the LT rumors.... this is BULLSHIT. That's not to say i don't understand business but the team wouldn't be the same. The secondary in my opinion fell of this past year because one of the leaders bounced Mr Marlon Mcree. The linebackers fell apart of course because of 56#. Now i love the team and the players are exciting but if you take LT out i think you lose a great leader and leadership is important, i think the 84 US Hockey team can prove that. There's a gel you create as a team and when you take apart the pieces sometimes they don't work the same...

One of the first rules to this recording game is first start out with a good mic. If you want your artist or you the artist sound like a STAR you have to have a good mic. The mic of choice for my artist is the Neumann-TLM-103-microphone. Now there are many good mics out there and there are mics that won't give you the sound YOU actually want so i recommend starting with reading reviews online or ask your local artist or engineers what they use. With bangin beats the producer will always sound like a star and with a shitty mic people will always think "if so and so was on this it would be better." Sounding professional is key.
