  3. I was wondering what you have to do to get a record deal. Im only 16 but Im trying to make it as a rapper. Any suggestions?

  4. Well RKor, times are very different now in the industry. To get signed isn't all what it used to be. The industry doesn't have the cash flow it once had, i mean Lil Wayne is one of the biggest artist right now and the Carter III has barley almost gone triple platinum, now don't get me wrong that's a HUGE payday but if this was the age before donwloads he would be doing probably 10 million and how many artist can even come close to gold anymore? not many. The best thing to probably do is get a team together and do it yourself. You need to have an image, product, promotion and some good networking. Most least important is sad to say probably product. Now to be make it as a rapper your biggest thing you want to do is practice, practice and practice. All people who are great at anything dedicate there whole lives to practice. The more you practice the better you become and it becomes habit.

  5. Well my friend and I formed a group called Rebel Royalty. He finds beats off a royalty free website because at the moment we don't have the money to go and buy recording equipment. He used to rap but now just helps find beats and sharpen up the sound. I'm first going to record an EP and get it out to people at my school. If I get a good response then I will try maybe some small radio stations. I know I'm far from perfect but I want to try to get a gage on how good I am.

  6. Thats not a bad idea. Constructive critisism is a way to become great. You can take some advice and leave some advice not everyone will help but you should always listen, sometimes years will go by and you relize what someone said might have had an impact before. The EP idea is good also, you could also do a mixtape, thats another great way to get out there. You usually don't have to worry about sample clearance or anything like that and can use songs that are current or old depending on your steez. A great place for mixtapes if you don't already know is http://www.datpiff.com/ you can submit your mixtapes and generally get a few responses. There is some software out there also that will allow you to make some decent sounding ishh also. Beat programs like fruity loops or reason are a few. For all our projects i mix up samples and original stuff, im currently working on our two next projects and one will be primarly sample based and the other will be all played out. You can find more of the stuff that ive done or current stuff all connected to the Mag Flux myspace page. Just remember when you get the songs together promote and what i personally do is always look for all the bad things i did first. I like to hear all the negative because its the only way im going to improve, hearing the good generally doesnt always make you want to get better. Most friends will always say its good but i try and compare to stuff to the people i want to sound like and why i dont sound like them. the game is to constantly improve make music you feel good about and music people will want to listen too.

  7. Wow thanks. Yeah I definitely know some people aren't going to like it because most of it is pretty intellectual. I think when I'm done my friend and I will send either an EP or make it larger into like a mixtape and send it to that website you talked about. Im not honestly sure who I want to sound like because I listen so many different mc's. Im always going to get compared to Eminem because Im white but im not Shady, Im RKor.

  8. The best thing to do to get a sound is to take from all the MC's you like and make something of your own out of all them. The only way you will get compared to Em is if your flow or voice sounds like im, there are many white MC's out there who are white that don't sound like Em, Brother Ali sounds nothing like him, Bubba Sparks, Paul Wall. The one person who does and i hope he finds his own cause i like his flow is Asher Roth, if asher finds his own voice he can make it far. Mesh all the styles of people you like together, if you like Luda's Flow and Jay-Z's Lyrics but Lupe's Steez mix it up you can come up with a great style.

  9. Well I listen to a lot of underground but my favorite mc is probably Biggie Smalls, I like Eminem and I also liked Kanye West before he started singing. I don't know how to describe it though because I listened to these guys and I sound nothing like them. Oh by the way, thanks for following my blog. So how long have you been running Magnetic Flux?

  10. No prob, thanks for the same. Biggie is actually one of my favorites also, Em, Kanye, Jay-Z probably got it for me though all around balanced, he can jump on any type of track and rip it, my list goes on forever lol. As far as the label it been going for a good minute now, We've recently been pushing everything to that next level now for about two years, doing as many shows and trying to get out there. We have the people on our label and then we have the Pac 10 which is all the people on our label and some other cats from different lables together forming like Voltron lol. It's definitley been exciting this past year. We've got to perform at some of San Diegos biggest venues, Pub in some local Magazines and Nominated for a San Diego Music Award. I just want to capitalize on everything and take it as far as i can.

  11. Wow thats amazing. I have a queston for: My friend and I were wondering if we could send out the EP we are working to you so you can give us some constructive criticism on what we could do to improve. That we be nice if you were able to take time out to listen. We would need your labels address to send it out. Please think about, thanks.

  12. For sure, you can send it by email too, that would be easiest and fastest, if you would like it sent by mail, i can send you our PO Box. email it to pac10.mf@gmail.com or any other concerns.

  13. Well Im not sure how to send via email. If you know how to do it then could you explain how to? For me mail maybe easiest but if you can show me how to by email then we wont need to. Thanks man.

  14. No prob, to do it by email, you would have to have downloaded the songs into your cpu, once there in there they would probably be in your music folder, desktop, itunes music folder if you use that, once there on the computer, you go to email and then you use the attachment button, once you have the attachment screen up you find the file and attach the song, now your songs are probably mp3 if you downloaded them into itunes, you right click on the files and go down to properties to see what type of file it is, should be an mp3, you can send about two mp3's with one email. it does take a long time to attach probably 2 to 5 minutes, once its attached you can just send it. if you have any other ? just hit me up. its just like sending an email just with an attachment with it, if its a different file or anything let me know and i can guide you thru it. you can also kinda see how its done if you have a gmail account with this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42frJqKAzaU its a little small but could kinda give you an example. and ? just let me what software you use to play music and what email type you have (hotmail, yahoo, ect..)

  16. Sorry I didn't comment earlier, I have been sick and I haven't got a chance to get on the computer. Yeah I will try that once I finish the EP. It may be a week or so before you get it. I have 4 tracks done and I plan on trying to record another. Thanks for the info man. If I email you it should be under Yahoo and the software I used to record is Acid Music Studio. I really appreciate you taking time to listen to me.
    Thanks,

    RKor

  17. np, ya if you can just send an mp3, i dont have that software to listen to it. lookin forward to hearing it.

  18. Alright cool. Im not sure if will work cuz I have tried transporting tracks via flash drive and it doesnt work so if it doesnt work then I will mail it to you. Im lookin forward to what you think. Your a rapper/producer/CEO/songwriter (Thats quite a mouthful!) and it will be beneficial to my development as an MC. I will talk it over with Fulms whether or not we should just have 4 tracks on the EP or add one but you will hear them.
